Using your Avatar

 

Getting your Avatar to appear in Forums

Now let's make your avatar do the job that it's supposed to - display an online version of you to other people. Go to the forum and set your avatar picture in your profile. This is the picture that people all over Glow will see whenever you leave any posts on any forums that you are a member of.

 

 


 

 

What you have to do!

  1. Watch Video 1 - Setting your Avatar: make sure its the right video!
    1. Log into Glow and edit your profile to include your Avatar.
    2. If your Avatar is too large. Then watch:-

  2. Watch Video 2 - Cropping your Avatar - make sure its the right one!
    • In the Glow group page that shows your practical class (e.g. 1P01), upload the picture of your avatar to the picture gallery.

  3. Watch Video 3 - Scaling your Avatar - Once all pictures have been uploaded, and your teacher tells you to, add your own forum post saying who you think each of the avatars are of.

  4. Watch Video 4 - Using Gravatar to see how to create a global Avatar that will appear in any Forum that supports Gravatar. This will save you from having to create many different Avatars across many different sites.

  5. Watch Video 5 - Commenting to see best practice in adding a comment to in the comment section at the bottom of this page (using your Gravatar picture) and setting the user as the first part of your email address.

    • In your comment say which avatar you liked best and you could also make recommendations of any other Avatar creation sites that you know of or come across.
  6. Watch Video 6 - More Commenting. Setup your JS-Kit account. This way you will be able to 'like' and 'reply' and 'follow' posts.
