Using Functions

A function is just like a formula. It performs a calculation automatically in a spreadsheet. Functions involve a keyword that tell the spreadsheet what kind of mathematical operation to do such as adding up cells without the need to use the + sign, or calculating an average without using a / (divide) symbol.

You will just use the SUM and AVERAGE functions, e.g. SUM (B3 : E3) and AVERAGE (B3 : E3). these functions would total the numbers in cells B3, C3, D3 and E3 and calculate the average of the same cells.
