Exercise 3: SIMPLE SEARCHING
 
Search Another advantage computerised databases have over manual databases are that they are very easy to use in finding or SEARCHING for information.
A SIMPLE SEARCH is where only one field is used to search for information.
 
Tip Searching can also be combined with sorting.
 
 
TO DO - In the Flights database
Watch the Simple Search Movie 3 and practice complex searching by answering the following questions in your Progress Grids.
 
1. Search for all flights to Munich.
Write down how many flights are on the list?
2. a. How many BA flights are in the database? Then:
  b. Sort the list by country and write down the flight number of the 4th flight listed. And:
  c. Which country appears most on the list?
3. Search for the flights where the ticket price is greater than £125. How many flights are on the list?
4. Search for the flights leaving before noon on any date ( think carefully how to do this). How many flights are there on the list.?
5. a. Search for the flights having more than 40 available seats. Then
  b. How many flights are listed? And
  c. Write down the flight numbers of the flights with the most available seats and also the least number of available seats.
