Using Information Content
Data, Information and Knowledge
Here is a link to Jamie's blog post which summarises succintly what you have to know here. Remember also that there are a variety of sources to pick up information regarding these terms such as your Higher Information Systems text book, the course notes (found in the file store) and the scholar web site.
Information Categorisation and Information Characteristics
For the purposes of your Higher exam, we define information as being placed in one of 8 categories. Each of these categories can then be sub-divided into at least 3 sub-categories. In terms of characteristics, there are 9 (or 10, with 2 being taken together). Each of these things on their own are not necessarily very complicated topics to learn. However, there is a great deal of information for you to get more than familiar with.
Jamie's previous blog post is a valuable source of revision as is Scott's very comprehensive piece that can be found here. The presentation covered in class can be found in PDF format here. Get busy, there's much to learn here and not a great deal of time to delay. Next topic, please.
