Entering text |
Text is entered usually by typing at a keyboard. |
| Word wrap |
Typing a word at the end of the line and there is not enough room for it, Word wrap automatically moves it on to the next line. |

Alter page size |
Pages are usually set to A4 size, but you can choose other page sizes e.g A5 or envelope size. |
| Alter page layout |
It is possible to change the layout of a page, by altering margins, setting up columns, changing it from portrait to landscape, altering the positions of headers and footers. |

Page breaks |
You can force the program to start a new page at any point by inserting a page break. |

Alter alignment |
You can choose the way text is lined up on a page. It can be lined up on the left or right. It can be centered in a page or fully justified - lined up with both margins. |

Set margins |
You can alter the margin or line length on a page. These changes can apply to the whole document or to individual paragraphs. |

Alter text style |
You can alter the appearance or 'style' of text e.g. bold, italic, underlined etc. |

Spell checker |
Helps find errors by and correct them by checking each word typed in and comparing it to its own dictionary.
Any words not found in its dictionary are highlighted as a spelling mistake. So, people's names, place names, abbreviations and slang are often highlighted.
Also some words correctly spelt like 'there' and 'their' can be used in the wrong context.
These mistakes are not found by the spell checker. |

Use to check your grammar is sticking to the rules of English language. |

Search and replace |
Use to look for a word or phrase that you want changed and then have it changed automatically. |

Standard paragraph |
You can save paragraphs of text that are used frequently.
These can be inserted into documents as you need them and this can save a lot of time. |
