1. Formatting Text
A big advantage to Word-processing, is that the appearance of text in documents can be easily changed. You can change:-

the FONT or the design of the appearance of text. |
Some Different fonts and Styles |

the STYLE of the font for example, Bold, Italic, Underlined, Shadow or Strike through. |

 |
the SIZE of the font. |
 |
the COLOUR of the font. |

Introducing Text Formatting
- Create in your Documents folder, a new folder called 'Word Processing'. This is where you will store all your Word Processing files.
- Download the The Lion King.doc file and save it to your Word Processing folder.
- Watch and follow the steps to change your file to the way shown in the video.
- Save your changes..
Aligning Text
Formatting text also includes how the text is lined up one the page. This is described as justification or alignment.

Left Alignment. Lines text up against the left margin |

Right Alignment. Lines the text up against the right margin. |
 |

Center Alignment. Lines up the text exactly between the margins |

Fully Justified. Lines the text up against both margins by increasing the space between words. |

To the Top with a Bullet
 |
With formatting you can also change the distance between lines or Line Spacing. |
 |
Important parts of text or key points in documents can also be emphasized or made to stand out with using Bullets. |

- Download The Operating System.doc file
- Save this file in your Word Processing Folder.
- Watch and follow the steps to change your file to the ways shown in the video
- Save your file
What you have to do!
- Create a Word Processing folder in your network documents folder to contain your word processing files.
- After downloading The Lion King.doc watch and make the changes shown.
- Download The Operating System.doc. Watch Video 2 and change it in the ways shown.
- Tick off your Progress Grids
Mark off Tasks 1 and 2 in your progress grids.
What you should now be able to do!
