More on Multimedia
There are no specific exercises for this unit. Instead we will concentrate on completing the project work. This is THE single most IMPORTANT piece of portfolio work you will do.
For additional help to help you need to complete your project you can:-
- Look at past work using the links on the left to.
- The Animal Kingdom which you completed in S1, and;
- The Simpson which focussed on animation in S2.
- Use the "How To" series link. These are very short films which aim to remind you of the essential operations you will have to undertake to complete your project.
- Use the On-Line Help in the program you choose.
1. Multimedia Presentation Packages for Projects
Special multimedia authoring packages are required to handle these different types of data. In school, Microsoft Powerpoint and Macromedia Dreamweaver are two common packages and are used for very different reasons.
- Macromedia Dreamweaver is used for the creation of web sites like this one which contain movies, sound. animated graphics and text.
- Microsoft Powerpoint is used for similar purposes but generally for use as stand alone packages on one or a few computers. Using animation to move between slides and animating objects on slides is generally much easier than creating web sites.
What you have to do!
- Click on the Part 1 link to discover exactly what you have to do.
- Everybody has to begin with the General Project which covers grades 3, 4: This has to be passed before proceeding with the Credit Project.
- Look at some of the example projects, both good and bad to discover what people did right or wrong.
- Discuss with your teacher how you will begin with your project.
- When you have completed the project, check with your teacher before proceeding to Part 2.
What you should be able to do!

Choose an appropriate package for your project and be able to supply reasons for your choice.

Explain clearly what you have to do for each stage of your project.
