Integrated Packages

Integrated packages have three or four GPPs in one package. They usually have spreadsheet, graphics, database, and word-processing packages available.

Advantages!

• Transferring data between packages is quite easy. It is usually a simple
  cut and paste.
• All the GPPs have a common HCI.
• Integrated packages cost less than buying a series of individual GPPs.

 

Disadvantages!

• Individual programs that make up the different oarts of the package are less powerful than seprate General Purpose Packages. OR
• Have fewer features for example integrated packages may not include a grammar checker.

Either in a new Word Document or in your Brain. Under a Main Heading Integrated Packages complete the following tasks.

1. What are the advantages of using an integrated package?
2. What is the main disadvantage of using an integrated package?
3. Give an example of an integrated package.
