Copyright, Designs and Patents Act

A lot of effort and hard work is made in producing software and work. Software copyright law protects people's programs and work for 50 years after it is published.

The Copyright Designs and Patents Act makes it illegal to:

1. Make unauthorised copies of software that is copyright protected
2. Run unauthorised copies of software
3. Transmit software over networks and copy it without licensed permission.
