Editing Information in Databases

Databases constantly change over time. Therefore it should be easy to:

Database Structure
  1. Add new information
  2. Delete unwanted information
  3. Change any incorrect or outdated information.

These things are easy to to do in FileMaker Pro, although deleting and changing data is usually dependant on searching for the required data in the first place.

  1. Watch Video 6, and;
  2. Using the PAINTINGS database file answer the questions of Exercise 8 in the General Section of your PROGRESS Grids.
  1. Add the records shown below. To move from one field to another, either
    1. Click in the required field, or:
    2. Press the TAB button on the keyboard.
  2. Delete all the paintings sold by Deborah Stanton. Write down in your PROGRESS Grids how many records remain in the database. Make sure your cursor appears in one of the fields of the record you intend to delete
