Backing up your Data

Why Backup

Crashed Disks

Computers can and do break down, disks can develop faults and you can delete things by mistake.

So you need to make copies or backups of your work on floppy disks, hard disks, tapes or writable CDs and store them in a safe place.

It is important to make a backup copy of your data, otherwise you might lose it.

Burning Computers

It is also a good idea to store your backups in a separate place. If your house burns down, not only will you lose your files but your backups too!

Businesses often store the backups of their original files in separate buildings, so if the worst happens they can quickly get started again.

Burnt computer

Never think that it won't happen to you. It probably will but hopefully not as bad as this, and you'll be really glad you've got copies and not lost all your work, music and films.
