Before you can access the internet you need to have an agreement with an internet service provider (ISP).
To access the internet, you have to log on to your ISP's computer that then links you to the rest of the Internet.
Your ISP helps your browser find web pages, gives access to web based email by storing and forwarding data to your computer, and provides access to newsgroups and chat rooms.
Some ISP's give you space on their servers to store your own web pages.
You pay a monthly service charge for the ISP's services, and in many cases, the telephone charges as well, though this varies according to the ISP.
