8. Video Conferencing

1.What is Video Conferencing?

Video Conference

Video conferencing is using a computer network to send audio and visual data to enable people in distant locations to have face-to-face meetings

The simplest form of a video conference is a point-to-point conference.

This connects two people at different locations using simple web cams, microphones and speakers attached to their computers

Video Conference

Sounds and images are captured by the microphone and camera. They are then transmitted across the network, which can either be be a LAN or a WAN or even the internet.

A more complex form of video conferencing is known as multipoint conferencing. This sets up audiovisual links across a network, linking several people in distant locations

2. Advantages of Video conferencing

Connecting to the Internet

People who are located in different countries and even continents can have face-to-face meetings where they can discuss documents displayed in the conference and make decisions.

This avoids the need for traveling large distances and staying in hotels, and it can be set up quickly, saving time and money. Teams of workers can be brought together quickly no matter where in the world they are located.
